I remember going to Sharm-el-sheik in 2004 and swearing never to return to any Islamic country. The hotel had guards with machine guns stationed every 50m around the hotel.
I actually spent the week on a dive boat out at sea but it was a lasting memory that helped build up my prejudice against all Muslims... Scum of the earth

Went to a wedding in Turkey a few years ago and the party ended up in a resort on the coast.
Coming into contact with Russian holidaymakers is restricting any sympathy I can feel in regard to an incident like this.

Was at 31,000 feet, no chance that any terrorist have the sort of kit that would bring that down at that height (like a BUK system that the Russians 'lent' to the Ukrainian separatists).

Been reading up...the plane had been grounded three times in the past week due to engine trouble and air traffic control was inconversation with the pilot who said that the electronics were failing and requests an emergency landing.
Basically a badly maintained plane.

Like everything else in Russia, the airline has probably been hollowed out by corruption. Now that the economy's collapsed the company probably doesn't have enough money to maintain its planes properly.
